Welcome to Scugog
The City of Scugog is located on Toronto’s eastern border. Scugog has approximately 91,000 residents. This is one of the most multicultural communities within Durham Region. Both homebuyers and businesses have been lured to Scugog, which has some of the most affordable real estate in the Greater Toronto Area. One of Scugog’s largest employers is Ontario Power Generation who operate North America’s largest and most powerful wind turbine system, right here in the City of Scugog.
Scugog is situated at the northeast boundary of the Greater Toronto Area. Geographically it is one of the largest municipalities in Durham Region; however, its population is only around 20,000 people. Scugog’s largest population centre is located in Port Perry which has approximately 6,000 residents. The Township of Scugog municipal offices are located in Port Perry at 181 Perry Street. Lakeridge Health Port Perry located at 451 Paxton Street, is a 36 bed hospital that serves the entire township.
Lake Scugog – which is one of Southern Ontario’s largest bodies of water – covers most of the northeast part of the Township. The landmark Scugog Island, is populated by year-round residents, and cottagers, and is also the home of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island, a First Nations Reserve. Scugog’s vast countryside encompasses the rural hamlets of: Blackstock, Caesarea, Epsom, Greenbank, Nestleton, Manchester, Prince Albert, Seagrave and Utica. These farming communities support a myriad of businesses including: tree farms, nurseries, field crops, vineyards, dairy farms and beef farms.
