The Ray Twinney Recreation Complex at 100 Eagle Street West offers a variety of public skating and swimming programs. The Newmarket Hurricanes, Junior “A” hockey team play their home games in this arena. Golf enthusiasts will enjoy the Phoenix Hill Golf Centre located on Yonge Street, north of Davis Drive. This facility has an indoor golf dome, and a driving range. The Newmarket Driving Range at 17321 Woodbine Avenue is a nice practice facility. Glenway Golf and Country Club is a private club located at 470 Crossland Gate, while Silver Lakes Golf and Country Club located at 21114 Yonge Street is a semi-private course.
The Mabel Davis park located in north-central Newmarket can be accessed from Bayview Parkway and from Davis Drive. This park features a 1400 metre trail that links up with Newmarket’s municipal trail system situated along the banks of the Holland River. This trail is well used by hikers and picnickers.
