Lifestyle in Caledon
The communities of Bolton, and Caledon East, contain the bulk of the shopping within Caledon. Downtown Bolton is situated in a picture-postcard setting along Regional Road 50, at King Street. Bolton’s heritage streetscape is defined by its historical commercial buildings and cast-iron street lamps. The recently built, Royal Courtyards Shopping Centre, located at 18 King St. E., has an inviting architectural appeal that plays on this heritage streetscape.
The “Gates of Caledon East” situated along Old Church Road is lined with old fashioned street lamps and Canadian flags. This quaint shopping district carved out of the rolling topography of the Oak Ridges Moraine includes interesting gift shops, cafes, restaurants, and convenience type stores.
Caledon is renowned for its plethora of country markets, which are well dispersed throughout Caledon’s many small villages and hamlets including: Alton, Belfountain, Caledon Village, Cataract and Terra Cotta. Caledon’s country markets offer locally grown fruits and vegetables, and an assortment of home baked goods.
Caledon’s rural communities are also known for their antique shops and restaurants, that are destination points for city folk looking to spend a day in the countryside.
