Homes in Brampton
Downtown Brampton centred at Queen and Main Streets is filled with heritage properties that date back to the 1830s. In this old section of Brampton, you will find many magnificent Victorian and Edwardian homes. In particular there are some fine examples of the late Victorian- Queen Anne style architecture, that is exemplified by cone-roofed turrets, grand bay windows, and ornately decorated verandahs. The leafy side streets in the downtown core feature every type of house imaginable, incorporating many style of homes from the 1910s onward including: Georgian, Tudor, English Cottage, and Dutch Colonial; as well as a variety of bungalows and some infill housing. Brampton is currently building more new homes than any other municipality in the Greater Toronto Area.
The largest of these developments, are at Fletchers Meadows, located in the northwest part of the city, and the Vales of Castlemore, situated in the northeast part of Brampton. Fletchers’s Meadows when complete will consist of over 15,000 homes, in a wide variety of styles and sizes. Many of these homes will overlook conservation lands. The Vales of Castlemore is already home to over 4,000 residents. This upscale executive community will feature mostly detached houses, with 40-80 foot frontages. Premium lots will feature ravine views of the Humber River. Streetsville Glen, a new subdivision now being developed in southwest Brampton, will feature upscale executive English Countryside, and French Manor style homes, on generous estate lots. There will also be a limited number of semidetached homes and bungalows in this community.
Streetsville Glen is situated at the doorstep of Churchville, a rural village that dates back to 1815. Churchville is Brampton’s only Heritage Conservation District. The Bramalea subdivision centred at Bramalea Road and Queen Street., E., was developed in the 1960s and holds the distinction of being Canada’s first “satellite” or “bedroom” community. Here you will find a diverse housing mix consisting of: bungalows, townhouses, detached homes, high-rise condominiums, and rental apartment buildings.
