Full municipal services are available in Bowmanville, Courtice, and Newcastle Village. Newtonville and Orono have municipal water service. Clarington’s other small rural villages and hamlets do not have municipal services, but instead rely on their own wells and septic systems.
Bowmanville, is the largest community in Clarington. It features a large selection of heritage homes as well as new home subdivisions. Newcastle Village is also being revitalized by new home subdivisions; foremost among these is the “Port of New Castle”, located on the shores of Lake Ontario. This development includes a restaurant and a marina. Courtice has many new and emerging subdivisions comprised largely of modest detached homes and townhouses.
