Arts in Clarington
The Visual Arts Centre of Clarington is located at 143 Simpson Avenue in Bowmanville. Situated in an old barley mill this centre offer a full range of arts programs for children and adults. This centre also serves as a gallery, displaying the works of local, and national artists.
The Mosport International Raceway is located at 3323 Concession Road #10, just north of Bowmanville. This world renowned racing facility features Saturday Stock Car Racing and hosts a series of international competitions including: Trans-Am Series, CASCAR Castrol SuperSeries Roadcourse, Canadian Superbike Series, and the American Le Mans Series.
The Bowmanville Zoological Park located at 340 King Street in Bowmanville is Canada’s oldest private zoo. Highlights of this zoo include: the 400 seat state-of-the-art Anima Theatre, elephant rides, an antique carousel ride, the Elephant Walk Gift Shop and the Safari Cafe and Garden Patio. The Bowmanville Museum located at 37 Silver Street in Bowmanville houses one of the best antique doll and toy collections in Canada, while the Clarke Museum and Archives located at 7086 Old Kirby Road in Orono, hosts a variety of special events throughout the year.
The Durham Central Fair is held annually in the Village of Orono which is situated at the intersection of Highway 115/35, and Highway 57. This fair draws approximately 25,000 visitors from across Durham Region. It is held the weekend after Labour Day, and features games, rides, equestrian events, and more.
