Winter Wilderness

Saturday, February 25 & Sunday, February 26, 12 noon - 5 pm
Village of Yorkville Park (Bellair St. & Cumberland St.)

Celebrate winter in the city with the seventh annual Bloor-Yorkville IceFest!

You and your family will marvel at the incredible “Winter Wilderness Exhibit” that will include a magical “Ice Log Cabin” centerpiece display celebrating Canada’s wild parklands, complete with a northern Lumberjack splitting wood next to a log fire, a moose gazing among carved “totem trees”, raccoons and jack rabbits! Don’t miss this this amazing scene, crafted from an astonishing 35,000 lbs. of ice.

Visitors will be able to enjoy ice carving demonstrations and an on-street skating performance by “Glisse on Ice”.

Showtimes Daily:
1pm, 2:30pm, 4pm.

Plus children will love the complimentary “Ice Kiddie Cubes” with a collectible GoGo’s Crazy Bones toy inside!

There will be a selection of our neighbourhood’s fine restaurants, serving hot drinks, soups, crepes, mac n’cheese and more hearty goodness for all visitors (prices may vary). These restaurants include: Carens Wine and Cheese, Crêpes à GoGo, Sassafraz, Jacques Bistro du Parc. There will also be desserts offered from Baker Street.

 

Photo Opportunity

Proceeds in support of Heart & Stroke Foundation

Donate $5 to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and pose at a life-sized Snowmobile display, made of ice and you will be sent a digital photo of your journey taken by photographer Henry Lin.

 

 

ICE CARVING COMPETITION

 Saturday, February 25 Starting at 12 noon
Village of Yorkville Park (Bellair & Cumberland)

The 12th Annual Sassafraz Ice Carving Competition takes over the Village of Yorkville Park, as great masterpieces begin to emerge beneath the picks, chisels and even chainsaws of talented carvers. Cast your vote for your favourite sculpture between 2 pm and 5 pm. Enter to win one of three Bloor-Yorkville Prize Packages starting at 12 noon.

The People’s Choice Sculpture will be announced at 5:15 pm at the sound tent on Cumberland Street.
