What is the SPLASH Festival?
SPLASH The Floating Water Festival is the first step in moving forward the idea of a Water Centre for Innovation, Research and Learning that will make Lake Simcoe synonymous with creativity and water leadership.

Who's behind the water festival?

Ladies of the Lake are playing a lead role in bringing to life a dynamic place with a visionary agenda on the shores of Lake Simcoe - The Ontario Water Centre for Innovation, Research and Learning. The Water Centre will be a space-both virtual and real-that brings together students, scientists, businesses, government, artists, and citizens of all types to learn about water and be inspired by water. It will be a hub that unites the ecological, economic, social, cultural, recreational and spiritual meanings and benefits of water.

There are no fish tales where the imaginative, enterprising Ladies of the Lake are concerned. Since 2004, the Ladies have:
raised $500,000 and leveraged another $3 million for innovative programs to help Lake Simcoe
sparked the $30 million federal fund (LSCUF) to restore the lake
championed a $20 million provincial commitment including a Lake Simcoe Protection Act and Plan
commissioned several easy-to-understand actionable research projects to move their agenda ahead
fostered "The Naked Truth Citizens' Action Plan" - 130 great ideas to save Lake Simcoe
engaged 64 youth as filmmakers to cast fresh eyes on the needs of the lake and get more youth involved
spearheaded ourlakesimcoe.com, the go-to-website for stewardship
created "Rewilding", a social innovation program to support community action to help nature and people
attended countless meetings, fairs and festivals as a force for change on Lake Simcoe
Now, Ladies of the Lake are underway with their most ambitious and significant undertaking - moving forward the idea of making Lake Simcoe an iconic Water Centre for Innovation, Research and Learning - and holding multi-media lake celebrations like the SPLASH Floating Water Festival as a taste of what's to come.
