Aurora’s 2011 Santa Under the Stars Parade
The Town of Aurora invites all residents and visitors to the
2011 Santa Under the Stars Parade on Sat., Nov. 26 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Join the community festivities
and celebrate this holiday season with friends, family, dynamic floats, live entertainment, marching bands
and Santa Claus!
Residents and visitors are invited to attend Aurora’s
annual Santa Claus Parade. With over 40,000
attendees and 120 community floats participating last
year, the parade is sure to be entertaining and
enjoyable especially with a chance to see Santa Claus!”
said Mayor Geoffrey Dawe.
Travelling south down Yonge Street, the parade will
begin at Orchard Heights Boulevard and ends at Murray
Drive.
Enjoy live entertainment put on by school clubs,
entertainment groups and eight professional marching
bands from across York Region.
Parade floats will be judged prior to the start of the parade and prizes awarded to the nine category
winners. A few of the categories include best commercial float, best musical float, best decorated float
and best original theme. The winners will be formally announced in The Banner’s Thursday Notice Board.
At the onset of the parade, letters to Santa will be collected by Canada Post Postal Carriers and food
bank donations will be collected by Era Banner representatives.
Residents and participants are encouraged to visit the many restaurants and cafés operating along the
parade route for dinner, snacks or some hot chocolate to keep warm.
The Town of Aurora would like to thank this year’s Santa Claus Parade corporate sponsors: Aurora Home
Hardware, Crabby Joe’s, Cineplex Odeon and PowerStream.
The parade will air on Rogers Cable 10 and on www.theauroran.ca for residents that are unable to watch
the community event live.
